HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GREEN FLAG AWARD SCHEME

1. A school that wishes to join the Green Flag Award Scheme expresses interest in writing.

2. The school is provided with a form to fill, to generate information about the school & to guide selection of potential schools.

3. Schools return the filled form not later than 15 /June each year.

4. Potential schools are selected by 30th /JUNE each year.

5. Schools are given Eco-school materials on the Eco-school model, thematic posters to guide them.

6. The school subscribes with 20,000 Uganda Shillings for the start-up pack & other thematic material

7. A start-up pack is availed to the school to start on the Eco-schools concept (7 steps criteria, guidelines on formation of committees etc.)

8. After implementing the Eco- schools concept through one theme, a school is requested
to submit it's School Profile for review during the first year of program implementation

9. The school profile is reviewed.

10. The school is assessed to find out if it qualifies for the Green Flag Award.

11. The school automatically enters the National Green Flag Award Scheme.

12. It gets school environmental based micro projects and other supplementary materials/products.

13. Successful schools are awarded the Green Flag on 14/October each year.
